Within Engineering, the UCL Department of Civil, Environmental & Geomatic Engineering is a multidisciplinary department renowned for innovation and excellence in research and teaching. The Lecturer/Associate Professor in Environmental Engineering will be based at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (CEGE). Home to a diverse team of staff, and world‑leading research projects, groups and centres, we reflect a broad, enquiring view of the engineering world. Strong links to industry and research are embedded throughout our wide range of activities, with these links enhanced by our proximity to both major infrastructure projects and leading firms, thanks to our central London location.

The postholder will:

  • Develop a rigorous, high‑level Environmental Engineering research programme in an area of synergy with existing Environmental Engineering, departmental and UCL activities and with potential for growth.
  • Participate in applications for external income to support research projects.
  • Publish regularly in high quality refereed journals.
  • Make a substantial contribution to teaching, at both undergraduate and MSc level.

In order to be successful as a/an Lecturer/Associate Professor in Environmental Engineering, you will:

  • Have a PhD in Environmental Engineering or other relevant subject area and relevant teaching experience in higher education.
  • Have a significant research profile, evidenced by high quality refereed publications and significant track record in a technical subject area compatible with existing capabilities and of interest to the department.
  • Be able and willing to attract external funding to support research activity and plans for future funded research.

The salary for this role is (£52,487 - £72,370). Salary on appointment is subject to experience.
