Regulatory Analyst in London

ISLA is looking for a Regulatory Analyst to join the London-based trade association on a full-time basis. ISLA’s Regulatory Analyst is a critical support role within the Advocacy, Public Policy, and Regulatory Strategy function, responsible for assisting with technical regulatory analysis and horizon scanning that underpins the association’s strategic influence. Reporting to the Head of Advocacy, Public Policy & Regulatory Strategy, this candidate will provide comprehensive monitoring of global legislative developments impacting securities lending, translating complex regulatory shifts into actionable intelligence for both internal stakeholders and the wider membership.

The role focuses on delivering high-quality research, assistance in drafting consultation responses, and supporting the development of proactive policy positions that align with the association’s strategic objectives across EMEA and other international markets. The successful candidate will have some knowledge of the securities lending landscape and must be able to demonstrate the ability to distil technical regulatory analysis into logical, relevant summaries. This role provides essential analytical and administrative support to the Head of Department, contributing to the day-to-day execution of advocacy workstreams and helping to produce the high-quality insights required to represent the industry’s policy interests.

Key responsibilities

• Regulatory Horizon Scanning: Monitor and track legislative developments across the EU, UK and Middle East as well as additional key jurisdictions on an ad hoc basis, to identify potential impacts to the securities lending industry.
• Support the Head of Department in drafting high-quality consultation responses, position papers, and briefing notes for senior leadership and member firms.
• Assist in the coordination and administration of member working groups, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on technical action items.
• Conduct preliminary research and data gathering to assess the operational and commercial impact of regulatory changes to the SFT market.
• Support the alignment of advocacy efforts by coordinating with internal units and tracking the progress of joint initiatives with other trade associations.
• Prepare structured research summaries and notes to assist the Head of Department in high-level meetings with regulators and policymakers.
• Assist in the research and drafting of articles, newsletters, and thought leadership papers to communicate ISLA’s policy stance to the wider market.
• Maintain a database of key regulatory contacts, committees, and legislative timelines to ensure timely engagement.

Skills and experience

• At least 2–5 years of experience in financial services, law, regulation or public policy, with a demonstrable interest in regulatory affairs or securities finance more broadly.
• Proven ability to research complex topics and organize findings into logical, structured formats.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise summaries for a professional audience.
• A basic understanding of the financial regulatory landscape and the plumbing of capital markets.
• Strong ability to manage multiple administrative and research tasks simultaneously while meeting strict regulatory deadlines.
• Execution focused attitude with the agility to pivot between multiple projects as the legislative agenda shifts.
• Prior exposure to Securities Financing Transactions (Securities Lending or Repo) or collateral management.
• Comfort with data tools or legislative tracking platforms to streamline horizon scanning.
• Experience in presenting research findings or updates in group settings or internal meetings.

Terms and application
