The Godolphin and Latymer School is one of the country’s leading independent day schools for girls, located on a six acre site in Hammersmith, London. The School’s facilities are excellent, making it an exciting place to learn and work. The students at Godolphin and Latymer receive unrivalled academic and pastoral support and outstanding examination results are achieved.
We currently seek to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Assistant Librarian to join the school on a permanent, part-time job share basis, working exclusively during term time. The start date will be confirmed on the completion of all required pre-employment checks.
The recently developed Library facility, situated at the heart of the school, boasts a bright and state-of-the-art working environment which provides our students with modern study areas supporting our commitment to both scholarship and innovative teaching and learning. Our library stocks approximately 21,000 books, plus several thousand ebooks and audiobooks, along with a substantial collection of subscription databases and websites. In addition, the library provides Chromebooks for student use.
The Assistant Librarian provides support for the Library and for the Librarian. Duties of the role include but are not limited to:
- Maintaining an appropriate learning environment
- Dealing with queries from students and staff
- Assisting with Library lessons
- Cataloguing and identifying and making available further resources
The Library is open and staffed from 8.00am to 7.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am to 6.00pm on Fridays during term time, on a rota basis covered by the Librarian and Assistant Librarians. The role therefore includes sole supervision of the Library at times.
This role is offered as a job share. The successful candidate will need to work collaboratively and flexibly with the other post holder to ensure continuity and effective delivery of the library service. The working hours are part time, Monday to Thursday 2.30pm to 7.00pm and Friday 2.30pm to 6.00pm during term time, which includes the full weeks in which a term begins and ends.
The salary will be commensurate with the post and will depend upon qualifications and experience. The closing date for this vacancy is 8.00am on 28 September 2026. Applications will be considered as they are received and interviews may take place before the advertised closing date. We reserve the right to close this vacancy early, without further notice, if a suitable candidate is identified.
All staff working in the School during the school day will have some contact with children and will therefore be in regulated activity. In this role you are likely to be regularly working directly with, and be responsible for, children in your care. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are “spent” unless they are “protected” under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
