Farleigh School is seeking a confident, approachable and highly organised individual to lead our Junior Boarding provision. Open to those with teaching or non-teaching experience, the role will oversee the smooth running of the Junior Boarding House, leading staff and ensuring a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment where every boarder feels supported and able to thrive.
You will provide strong leadership and management for both staff and pupils, overseeing day-to-day operations, pastoral care, and the wellbeing of all junior boarders. This includes creating a positive boarding culture, maintaining high standards of care, and working closely with parents and colleagues to support each child’s personal and academic development.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Management: Lead the Junior Boarding House, supporting staff and ensuring a positive, safe and inclusive environment.
- Pastoral Care: Ensure boarders feel happy, supported and able to thrive in all aspects of school life.
- Communication & Relationships: Build strong relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
- House Administration: Oversee the smooth, safe and effective day-to-day running of the Boarding House.
- Promotion of Boarding: Champion Farleigh’s boarding provision, helping to raise its profile and attract and engage boarding families.
Candidate Specification
- Previous experience working in a boarding environment or pastoral care setting
- Proven leadership and management experience, ideally within a school or residential setting
- Strong background in safeguarding and welfare responsibilities
- Willingness to undertake relevant courses
- IT literacy for managing records and communication effectively
- Familiarity with boarding regulations and compliance
