The purpose of the role of Arabic, Islamic and Qatari History Teacher is to promote a love for learning among students of all abilities. They share responsibility for planning, teaching and assessments of the subject to develop and fulfil students' academic potential, raise attainment, promote high standards of literacy and articulacy, and set high expectations to inspire, motivate and challenge pupils. The role requires a qualified educator capable of leading and delivering teaching and learning to a high standard, inspiring and equipping students to progress with their learning both independently and collaboratively. The post holder will work closely with colleagues and support the work of the school, modelling good relationships with students, colleagues and parents. Initiative, empathy, proactivity, and a positive character are expected, with a positive impact on the school through subject leadership and extra-curricular activities.

Key Duties and Areas of Responsibility

  • Set goals that stretch and challenge pupils of all backgrounds, abilities and dispositions
  • Demonstrate positive attitudes, values and behaviour expected of pupils
  • Promote good progress and outcomes by pupils
  • Be accountable for pupils’ attainment, progress and outcomes
  • Plan teaching to build on pupils’ prior knowledge and capabilities
  • Guide pupils to reflect on progress and emerging needs
  • Demonstrate knowledge of how pupils learn and its impact on teaching
  • Encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own work and study
  • Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge
  • Maintain pupils’ interest and address misunderstandings; promote literacy and articulacy
  • Promote high standards of literacy and the correct use of standard English, within the subject area
  • Plan and teach well-structured lessons
  • Impart knowledge and develop understanding through effective use of lesson time
  • Promote a love of learning and intellectual curiosity
  • Set homework and plan out-of-class activities to consolidate knowledge
  • Reflect on lesson effectiveness and contribute to curriculum development
  • Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils
  • Differentiation to enable effective teaching for all abilities
  • Understand factors that can inhibit learning and how to overcome them
  • Support pupils at different development stages and special educational needs as applicable
  • Make accurate and productive use of assessment
  • Know how to assess relevant subject areas, including internal/external requirements
  • Use formative and summative assessment to secure progress
  • Use data to monitor progress, set targets, and plan follow-up lessons
  • Provide regular feedback and encourage pupils to respond
  • Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment
  • Establish clear rules and routines aligned with school policy
  • Maintain high behaviour expectations and apply disciplinary methods consistently
  • Manage classes to engage and motivate pupils, maintaining positive relationships

  • Contribute to the wider life and ethos of the school, including extra-curricular activities
  • Develop professional relationships with colleagues and deploy support staff effectively
  • Pursue professional development and contribute to teaching improvements
  • Contribute to the department’s extra-curricular program and curriculum events
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding pupils’ achievements and well-being

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in teaching from an accredited institution
  • Required teaching certification for Qatar MOEHE
  • Meet professional teacher education requirements of the school
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience
  • Language: English is mandatory
