Purpose of Role

The role ensures that all teaching staff at Durham School for Girls uphold the UK Teaching Standards, align their practices with the school’s MARK values and policies, and meet the cultural expectations of the Qatari Ministry of Education. The purpose includes delivering high‑quality, engaging lessons, fostering a safe and inclusive environment, supporting student well‑being, and promoting continuous professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Deliver Effective Lessons
    • Develop and implement curriculum aligned with subject standards and learning objectives.
    • Create lessons that address diverse learning needs, using varied instructional strategies and resources.
    • Ensure curriculum plans and resources reflect DSGD/MARK and Qatari values.
    • Use technology and innovative tools to enhance student‑led learning.
    • Provide timely, constructive feedback on progress and assignments.
    • Continuously assess student learning to inform instruction.
    • Report concerns about planning or resources that conflict with values promptly to direct line manager.
  • Foster a Positive Classroom Environment
    • Set clear behavioral expectations and rules.
    • Promote collaboration, respect and inclusivity.
    • Address individual student needs and provide support or accommodation.
    • Encourage participation and facilitate discussions to develop critical thinking.
    • Promote a growth mindset and ownership of learning.

Position Requirements

  • Education and Certification
    • Bachelor’s Degree in teaching from an accredited institution.
    • Post‑Graduate Certificate in Education.
    • Degree subject on the MOE approved list.
    • Teaching certification for Qatar MOEHE.
    • Meet professional teacher education requirements of the school.
    • Child Care and Protection training.
  • Language: English is mandatory.
