The International Rescue Committee (IRC) seeks an Associate Director, Prospect Research & Management to lead the Prospect Research & Management team in External Relations’ Business Operations & Analytics. The Associate Director will shape research strategies, drive high‑value prospect research, and support IRC’s fundraising sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co‑develop and deliver PRM’s annual & long‑term strategy with senior fundraising leadership.
  • Lead high‑value research initiatives, producing confidential donor profiles across markets.
  • Translate strategic goals into actionable research plans, driving pipeline development across funding pillars.
  • Build strategic relationships with fundraising leaders, ensuring PRM informs donor cultivation & stewardship.
  • Shape team strategy & metrics, driving data‑driven research integration.
  • Drive innovation in research methodology & tool use, lead procurement and mentor technical development.
  • Manage PRM resources (CRM, databases, media tools) and continuous improvement across operational areas.
  • Lead cross‑functional research initiatives & special projects, supporting leadership decision‑making.
  • Communicate and align PRM with key partners, ensuring high‑quality service to high‑value fundraising teams.
  • Manage the PRM team, promoting inclusive practices and developing team culture.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Expert research & database management skills (Salesforce).
  • Leadership of cross‑functional problem‑solving, continuous improvement in research methodology.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize complex data into strategic insights.
  • Proficiency with PRM subscription tools, internet research, fundraising software, data retrieval services (LexisNexis, iWave, Foundation Directory).
  • Strong communication skills, strategic messaging, and alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Proven quantitative & qualitative analysis experience in non‑profit fundraising strategy across multiple markets.
  • Experience with tool innovation, procurement, and technical mentoring.
  • MS Office skills, relational database (Salesforce) expertise, protocol development.

Desired Qualifications

  • Understanding of philanthropic trends across markets, humanitarian sector knowledge.
  • Knowledge of strategic philanthropy, CSR, public‑private partnerships, impact investing.
  • Leadership & time‑management skills, prioritization across multiple projects.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with sensitivity and discretion.
  • Experience in large international organization with multi‑region stakeholder groups.
