Join Our Dynamic Onsite Commercial Team at IPL and Asda! We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Manager - Packaging Technology to become a vital part of our onsite Packaging and Print Team at IPL and Asda. If you are passionate about Packaging and eager to contribute to a dynamic team, this role is perfect for you!
Position Details:
- Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5pm
- Location: Hybrid working as required between IPL sites in Normanton as well as Asda House in Leeds
- Contract Type: Permanent
Key Responsibilities:
- IPL lead and responsibility for artwork amend process.
- Coordinate printer/cutter/recycling detail for briefed projects.
- Development and maintenance of all packaging specifications for the business.
- Escalation point for packaging anomalies and non-conformances.
- Key technical liaison with all packaging suppliers and compliance with Asda Material Policy.
- Key Technical liaison for factory packaging specifications and technical data sheets.
- Key packaging technical liaison with all Site Operations & Engineering teams on factory packaging trials & machinery settings.
- Leading the selection and specification of all new packaging formats in the NPD process.
- Complete due diligence to ensure all food contact packaging is suitable for contact with food.
- Maintenance of packaging weights database.
- Responsible for bringing new material opportunities to the business, to improve cost/efficiency/service levels to achieve required strategic aims.
- Pallet Optimisation and Packaging design.
What are we looking for?
- Experience of BRC/IOP certification for packaging.
- Packaging auditing experience.
- Science degree or equivalent.
- Comprehensive knowledge of packaging materials (plastic, paper, aluminium etc).
- Knowledge of packaging testing standards and equipment.
- Ability to identify and implement strategic packaging initiatives.
- Knowledge of legislative requirements relating to packaging (EPR, RAM, PPWR).
- Knowledge of packaging machinery standards and efficiencies (ideal).
- Experience of working in High Risk Food Contact Environments (ideal).
