Context of Role
The Business Analyst sits within the Member Association Development and Impact Division as a central operator in the divisional data management and analytics. The role works across teams and is a connector and collaborator with regional offices. This position bridges data analysis, project management, and stakeholder communication - translating complex data into clear visualisations and insights that help support strategic decision‑making within the Secretariat.
Role Purpose
The role works most closely with the Strategy Director and the Head of Portfolio Management, with regular collaboration with the Research & Partnerships Senior Advisor and the Performance Senior Advisor. It also involves sustained engagement with Architects of Cooperation (AOCs), Business Analysts across the network, and external consultants, and the overall Division Director. This is a varied and evolving role suited to someone who copes well with ambiguity and complexity, and who enjoys working with people of all different cultures and backgrounds; someone who is proactive in problem solving, and confident working across data, project management, and communication functions.
Deliverables
- Power BI Dashboarding & Data Reporting
- Responsible for the creation and maintenance of Power BI dashboards that support Secretariat‑level planning and reporting. Specific workstreams include:
- Strategy and Planning Dashboards: Collating, cleaning and analysing data from various platforms and maintaining an up‑to‑date set of dashboards for the Strategy Director. Working with a set of consultants, manage the IPPF Planning Portal. This includes supporting the global cadre of MA‑facing staff with trainings and problem solving.
- Quarterly Results Monitoring (QRM) Dashboard: Collecting and consolidating data from IPPF’s accounting system, Finance, and project leads; building and maintaining the QRM Power BI dashboard; and preparing presentation slides for DLT (Divisional Leadership Team) meetings.
- Harm Mitigation Task Force
- Support IPPF's Harm Mitigation Task Force including proposal review, data analysis, administrative coordination, drafting of grant agreements and related communications.
- Ad‑hoc Research & Analysis
- Provide analytical and research support on an ad‑hoc basis, including:
- Contributing to abstract submissions in collaboration with the Research & Partnerships Senior Advisor.
- Supporting data analysis with the Performance Senior Advisor as needed; including voluntary contributions to the Performance, Learning and Impact (PLI) Team processes when additional capacity is required.
- Budgeting, Management Accounts and Administration
- Support divisional planning, budgeting and reforecasting. This includes working on the IPPF’s budgeting platform, Vena, supporting the MAD&I Division with annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting processes, and the coordination of management accounts and variance commentaries for the Division. Any other tasks, including administrative, that may be required from time to time.
Essential Skills
- Full proficiency in data management, analytics, and modern software.
- Full proficiency in Power BI, including dashboard development, data modelling, and DAX.
- Advanced Excel skills, including data cleaning, transformation, and working with large datasets.
- Comprehension of financial management principles, language and tools.
- Comprehension of development sector monitoring, evaluation and learning theories, e.g. LogFrame or Theory of Change.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to translate technical information for non‑technical audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Experience working in/ or with international development or NGO contexts.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with financial reporting or management accounts processes.
- Experience with Microsoft SharePoint as a data layer or document management.
- Experience with data visualisation tools or libraries (e.g., Python Plotly, R ggplot2), including a conceptual understanding of data visualisation principles as applied to dashboards and ad‑hoc analytical outputs.
- Proficiency in a programming language used for data analysis, such as Python, R, or Stata.
- Prior experience in project or programme coordination, particularly in complex multi‑stakeholder environments.
- Understanding of evolving technology and software, including AI.
- Understanding of SRHRJ and a passion for the work of IPPF.
