Contract Details:

  • Start Date: Mid-June
  • End Date: End of September

Location Coverage: Bristol, Berkshire, Plymouth, Cornwall, Southampton, Swindon, Wood Norton, Taunton, Worcester & Gloucester counties. May be required to attend London Broadcasting House.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a hands-on, reliable Field Engineer to support the deployment of Mitel IP handsets across multiple BBC Southwestern sites. This is a field-based role requiring regular travel to various locations, working closely with on-site staff to deliver a smooth and efficient rollout.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel to designated BBC Southwestern sites to support handset rollout activities
  • Install, configure, and test Mitel IP handsets
  • Liaise with on-site teams to coordinate installation schedules and resolve any issues
  • Ensure all installations meet agreed standards and timelines
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and escalate issues where necessary
  • Maintain accurate records of deployments and site activities

Requirements:

Skills & Experience (Desirable):

  • Experience with IP telephony systems, ideally Mitel
  • Understanding of IP telephony infrastructure and networking concepts
  • Familiarity with physical telecoms/network infrastructure including:
    • Patch panels
    • Krone blocks
    • IDF (Intermediate Distribution Frame) environments
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work independently while managing a structured rollout schedule

Logistics & Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence required
  • Willingness to travel daily across the Southwest region
  • Flexibility for occasional overnight stays, depending on site location and rollout schedule
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
