Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in areas worldwide.
This position will support International Medical Corps’ emergency response delivering outpatient clinical care to disaster‑affected populations. Candidates applying to this position are indicating that they are interested in being considered for International Medical Corps’ standby roster for emergency response. Roster members will be contacted only when there is an emergency‑response need for which the responder is qualified. This position will not be compensated unless responders are deployed to an emergency response.
Job Summary
Responsible for sterilization and infection prevention activities within a medical facility, ensuring medical instruments, equipment, and clinical areas are cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized according to International Medical Corps protocols and universal hygiene standards.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Apply sterilization and infection prevention protocols according to medical standards.
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize medical instruments and equipment using approved methods.
- Prepare, package, and label sterilized instrument sets for clinical use.
- Maintain sterilization equipment and ensure proper functioning of sterilizers.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sterilization unit.
- Collect and dispose of medical waste according to safety standards.
- Report damaged instruments or equipment malfunction to supervisors.
- Support surgical and clinical teams by ensuring availability of sterile instruments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Sterilization technician training or relevant healthcare technical diploma.
- Minimum 1–2 years experience in sterilization or infection prevention desirable.
- Knowledge of medical sterilization procedures and infection prevention standards.
- Ability to work in clinical and emergency response environments.
- Fluency in English required.
