This position will support International Medical Corps’ emergency response delivering outpatient clinical care to disaster-affected populations.

Job Summary

The Gastroenterologist is a board-certified or board-eligible physician specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders affecting the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, liver, pancreas, and biliary system. This role provides both outpatient and inpatient care, performs diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient-centered care.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat gastrointestinal disorders, including but not limited to GERD, IBS, IBD, liver disease, pancreatitis, and colorectal conditions.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as endoscopy, colonoscopy, biopsy, and polypectomy.
  • Interpret laboratory results, imaging studies, and pathology reports.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and preventive care strategies.
  • Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, lifestyle modifications, and disease prevention.
  • Collaborate with primary care physicians, surgeons, oncologists, and other specialists.
  • Maintain accurate, timely medical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Participate in call coverage, inpatient consults, and rounding as required.
  • Comply with all hospital policies, regulatory standards, and quality initiatives.
  • Participate in quality improvement, research, teaching, or committee activities as applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
  • Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency.
  • Completion of an accredited Gastroenterology fellowship.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Gastroenterology.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary clinical teams.
  • Fluency in English required.
