Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in areas worldwide.
This position will support International Medical Corps' emergency response delivering outpatient clinical care to disaster-affected populations.
JOB SUMMARY
The Ophthalmologist provides specialized eye care services including outpatient consultations, surgical procedures, and inpatient consultations as needed within a medical facility. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct ophthalmology consultations for diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases.
- Perform ophthalmologic surgical procedures such as cataract and other eye surgeries as applicable.
- Provide screening, treatment, and management of vision disorders and ocular infections.
- Support inpatient consultations for eye-related conditions.
- Interpret ophthalmologic diagnostic tests and imaging.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams for integrated patient care.
- Ensure compliance with patient safety, infection control, and clinical protocols.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with completion of post-graduate training in Ophthalmology.
- Valid medical license and Ophthalmology board certification or equivalent specialization.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in ophthalmology clinical practice.
- Experience in ophthalmic surgical procedures.
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary clinical environments.
