The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) is a defence and security think tank that has a deep understanding of regional geopolitics and geo-economics in a global context. Its international researchers provide best‐in‐class independent and impartial analysis and provide insights on strategic challenges and priorities to governments and the private sector. It is an expert at bringing together national leaders and senior policymakers in foreign policy, defence and security; promoting dialogue; and facilitating effective and influential bilateral and multilateral consultations.
The IISS is seeking to appoint a Digital Communications Coordinator to work within the Communications department. This role will report to the Digital Communications Engagement Manager.
Responsibilities:- Use CMS (Optimizely) to prepare and upload content on the IISS website with focus on blog pieces, publication landing pages and podcast content.
- Support the Digital Communications Engagement Manager in planning and implementing newsletter content, campaigns and strategy across target audience segments.
- Draft and schedule social media posts and assist the content creation process for short‐format content and selected campaigns, supporting both the Digital Communications Engagement Manager and Senior Digital Coordinator.
- Support the creative content creation process, including talking heads and podcasts led by Senior Digital Coordinator and Digital Communications Engagement Manager.
- Support the delivery of the digital aspects of our communications plans for key events through coordination, amplification and reporting.
- Support selected campaigns, taking complex information and translating it into strong digital campaigns for multiple audiences, based on the OASIS approach.
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and demonstrable experience in a similar role.
- Experience of using Content Management Systems to upload and edit website content.
- Experience of using social media and newsletter campaign tools.
- An ability to transform complex ideas into clear and engaging copy for varied communications channels.
- Experience of using analytic tools for monitoring, reporting and evaluation. This may include web and social media analytic tools, e.g. Google Analytics, YouTube Analytics, etc.
- Good organisation and time‐management skills to manage tasks and work within agreed deadlines.
- Coding knowledge desirable in understanding how the infrastructures of the internet, websites and digital platforms work.
Salary will be competitive and commensurate with knowledge and skills. The IISS provides a full employment package.
