International House London is currently seeking experienced and enthusiastic Japanese teachers to join our growing Foreign Languages team. The role primarily involves teaching adults on our evening face-to-face courses at our school in Covent Garden. This is an excellent opportunity for qualified and passionate individuals to contribute to our vibrant and multicultural learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver high-quality Japanese language lessons to adult learners.
- Create engaging and effective lesson materials and activities.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of courses and maintain consistent teaching standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- Native or Proficient Japanese speaker
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
- Initial Japanese teaching qualification
- Minimum of 2 years teaching experience to groups
- Must have the right to work in the UK and be currently based in the UK
- 420-hour Japanese language teacher training course or equivalent Japanese teacher training course
- Experience teaching using Minna no Nihongo
- QTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Japanese Language Education
- Japanese Language Teaching Competency Test
- Experience in teaching in-company and one-to-one courses
Working Hours:
This is a part-time position. Most lessons are in the evening from 18.30 - 20.30, once a week. We also have some classes in the afternoons, Friday evenings and Sunday mornings.
