About Us
The multi award‑winning International Bomber Command Centre (IBCC) is looking for an exceptional and enthusiastic person to join our team. Since opening in Spring 2018, the Centre has attracted over 750,000 visitors and has risen to be one of the best‑rated attractions in the area. We proudly hold Gold Accolades from VisitEngland and a raft of other awards.
Position
We are seeking an experienced, dedicated, and enthusiastic Visitor Experience Manager to ensure our guests have wonderful visits. Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, you will be an integral part of our small but vitally important team. Your responsibilities will include all retail and reception duties. The IBCC not only has a Memorial, gardens, and exhibitions but also runs a busy café operation and a full programme of events and corporate hospitality.
Responsibilities
- Customer Service Excellence: Maintain high levels of customer service.
- Retail Management: Design and manage the physical and online retail offering, including keeping accurate records.
- Team Leadership: Line manage staff and volunteers covering reception, administration, and retail.
- Motivation and Engagement: Keep staff motivated and engaged with the project’s aims.
- Professionalism and Planning: Maintain a professional and positive attitude to the project. Flexibility, adaptability, and strong planning skills are a must.
- Communication Skills: Have strong IT, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with management, staff, and volunteers.
- People Management: Have strong interpersonal and people management skills.
- Problem Solving: Be prepared to react to unplanned situations and changes in a positive manner.
- Operational Management: Organise front‑of‑house rotas to cover a 6‑day per week operation. Promote upselling and cross‑selling to visitors by staff and volunteers.
- Inventory Management: Carry out monthly and annual stock takes.
- Key Holding: Act as a key holder and follow opening and closing schedules. Cover alarm callouts out of hours along with other Duty Managers.

Join Us
The Centre is open 6 days a week – Tuesday to Sunday (except Bank Holidays) with standard opening hours of 9.30 – 5.00. Occasional events may require out‑of‑hours cover. We are closed for a week over Christmas each year.
