You’ll contribute to the continuous improvement of HC systems and processes, support OD and change initiatives, performance improvement activity, and employee engagement and recognition, with a strong focus on ED&I and employee experience. Alongside this, you’ll coach and support managers in building capability, managing talent and succession planning, delivering agreed projects to deadline while keeping stakeholders informed and escalating risks where needed.

    • Good understanding of UK employment law and ability to apply it pragmatically in an operational environment.
    • Calm, organised and able to manage multiple priorities to deadlines without losing attention to detail.
    • Strong judgement, integrity and confidentiality, handles sensitive matters with care and professionalism.

Caring for Stakeholders – balances people, business and compliance needs with fairness and respect.

  • Preferred Qualifications
    • CIPD accreditation desirable.
    • HR or Business related qualification.
    • At least 3+ years working within a HR Generalist role.
    • Experience of working within a production environment and dealing with unions would be advantageous.

The HR (HC) Assistant role supports the HC team in delivering an effective, generalist HC service across the organisation. The focus is on providing high‑quality administrative and operational support across the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, compliance, learning and development, employee engagement, and HC systems and reporting.

Acting as a first point of contact for general queries, the role works closely with managers, employees and the wider HC team to ensure processes are delivered accurately, efficiently and to a high standard. The post also contributes to HC projects aligned to business strategy, supports digital and system improvements, and helps build the organisation’s long‑term talent pipeline while offering broad exposure to generalist HR activity.

    • Strong organisational skills and ability to coordinate workload independently and as part of a team.
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages or similar digital tools.
    • Able to work effectively and respectfully with people from all backgrounds and at all levels.
    • Understanding of office environments and professional conduct.
