With a corporate history dating back over sixty years, Inver House Distillers Ltd t/a International Beverage has expanded its portfolio over the decades to include a variety of renowned Scottish distilleries and whisky brands. Since 2001, International Beverage has been the international arm of Thai Beverage Public Limited Company. The premium spirits company’s portfolio is led by a range of high-quality brands including Old Pulteney single malt Scotch whisky, Hankey Bannister blended Scotch whisky, Caorunn Gin, PRAKAAN single malt whisky and Phraya Rum from Thailand, Larsen Cognac, and Cardrona spirits and liqueurs.

International Beverage’s success is shaped by its 700-strong team based across the business’ network of nine global sites spanning the UK, France, New Zealand, and Greater China following the company’s recent acquisition of Asiaeuro International Beverage (AIB). International Beverage owns five distilleries in Scotland, Pulteney, Balblair, Speyburn, Knockdhu and Balmenach and headquarters have been established in Airdrie, Scotland for 60 years. Purpose of Role

Over half a century of brand heritage has now been accumulated and acquired, and International Beverage finds itself as record custodians of several rich and unique archive collections. Therefore, the Group has created a brand new role of Corporate Archivist to oversee the development and management of its heritage collections for the Scottish portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for auditing and reviewing the archive of International Beverage, ensuring that all materials are properly assessed and identified. This role will involve conducting site visits to evaluate the current state and breadth of the archive, and engaging with stakeholders to understand operational requirements. The objective is to provide a comprehensive assessment of the archive’s long-term needs, aligning preservation, accessibility, and strategic value with the business’s future growth and objectives. The role also coincides with the 200th anniversary of Old Pulteney, one of International Beverage’s oldest brands, and so there is likely to be opportunity for the corporate archivist to be part of outreach opportunities and heritage led-initiatives in 2026, whilst using their professional knowledge and expertise to develop the wider corporate archive as a whole.

Main Responsibilities

  • To initiate a companywide audit of all records and objects, across all relevant sites in order to build up knowledge and requirements of collection.
  • To plan and develop archive management policies to ensure the permanent retention of records that reflect key operations, activities, and products.
  • To develop a collections management strategy for all areas of the collection; this will include developing a database for bottles and accompanying metadata using existing inventories and cataloguing all relevant records according to professional standards.
  • To oversee all practical aspects of collections care, including the planning of appropriate storage, and the handling and packaging requirements for all collection items.
  • Promoting key historical records relating to the Old Pulteney brand and its heritage as part of various 200th anniversary outreach events and initiatives as required by the business.
  • Monitoring and responding to all heritage-based enquiries, and to undertake historical research to uncover, analyse, and interpret primary source materials to craft engaging stories and narratives.
  • To promote the archive with relevant professional networks, and peers within the business archive industry. This may include presenting and/or attending relevant conferences and networking opportunities.
  • Manage and own your professional development in order to achieve your work objectives and your career and personal goals.

Personal Attributes

  • Thorough knowledge of the theory and practice of all aspects of archives and records management, and current professional best practice.
  • Working knowledge of archive cataloguing to professional standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build effective collaborative working relationships within and across service teams to achieve goals.

Professional Requirements

  • Degree and/or postgraduate qualification in Archives and Records Management.
  • Significant experience of working in archive environment.
  • Proven experience in developing and applying policies, procedures, and working with collections, including cataloguing.
  • Skilled in delivering outreach activities and responding to heritage-related enquiries.
