International Baccalaureate
The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a globally recognized educational foundation that offers a range of challenging academic programs for students aged 3 to 19. Established in 1968, the IB aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who are motivated to succeed. The organization is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, but has a significant presence in the UK, where it collaborates with schools to implement its rigorous curriculum.
The IB offers four educational programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), and the Career-related Programme (CP). Each program is designed to foster critical thinking, intercultural understanding, and respect, preparing students for a globalized world.
- Primary Years Programme (PYP): Focuses on the development of the whole child in the classroom and beyond.
- Middle Years Programme (MYP): Encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world.
- Diploma Programme (DP): A two-year educational program that prepares students for university and life beyond.
- Career-related Programme (CP): Offers students a unique blend of academic and career-related learning.
The IB is committed to providing high-quality education that promotes international-mindedness and a sense of global citizenship. With over 5,000 schools worldwide offering IB programs, the organization continues to expand its reach and impact. The IB’s vision is to create a better world through education, fostering a community of learners who are equipped to tackle the challenges of the future.
