Overview:

Responsible for organising, managing and developing the Process and Manufacturing Engineering teams to ensure that the manufacturing plan is supported in full and to the expected quality standards, as well as supporting Launch plans, trial plans and Program Team requirements.

Main missions and results:

  • Proactively promote behavioural safety, hazard spotting and safe working practice and act as an ambassador for positive Health & Safety activity amongst the peer group
  • Lead by delivering 8D’s / Investigations into Quality issues and deliver robust corrective actions
  • Ensure awareness and understanding of the quality standards
  • Adopt a proactive approach to Quality so that issues are identified and dealt with at the earliest opportunity
  • Ensure equipment and processes are designed to build quality into the products and detect / remove issues at an early stage.
  • Ensure that the team understands and adheres to IAC rules and policies and ensure that the rules are applied fairly and consistently
  • Understand what KPI standards are in place to manage the department against and ensure that the team receives regular updates with regards to their performance against these targets
  • Maintain and coordinate the Training Matrices and ensure that all relevant certification and qualifications are up to date and refreshers arranged in good time
  • Ensure that all team members are multi-skilled and capable of covering all areas in the event of resource shortages
  • Ensuring that all team members are fulfilling the requirements of their role on a day-to-day basis and taking action to address any shortfall
  • Propose & introduce best practice processing technology not exclusive to injection moulding
  • Drive, track and monitor IMIP activities with KPI’s relating to cost saves
  • Develop and introduce ‘SMED’ tools and techniques, train and mentor operational Setting Team
  • Supply Process Engineering support for trials both on and off site as required
  • Ensure Process Trials are completed and documented in line with New Program requirements
  • Maintain SMS database with latest proven parameter information
  • Liaise with all IAC departments and customers assisting with all process related questions / feasibilities for Change Management, New Product Introduction and Problem resolution forums.
  • Ensure all Process Engineers take an active role within NPI and Launch teams
  • Lead all Manufacturing Engineering activities from Process Flow, Layout, Equipment Specification through to timely introduction, whilst observing the IAC Manufacturing Readiness Process.
  • Spend time getting to know the team and understand that this is value adding activity
  • Recognise team achievements and acknowledge good performance together with addressing any shortfalls in performance
  • Ensure that the relationship with peers and subordinates are appropriate and established on a mutual respect and performance led basis
  • Ensure that all processes are optimised to ensure that planned volumes are delivered on time, in full and to the required quality standard
  • Report all relevant KPI data to the relevant recipients keeping all data and information fact based without emotion and supposition
  • Take responsibility and ownership for the housekeeping standards of the area, driving for excellence and not mere compliance
  • Understands and can explain the benefits of CI methodologies and the importance of the processes towards loss reduction and performance improvements
  • Drives, supports and actively participates in Kaizen events throughout a variety of areas across the site

Budgetary responsibilities:

  • Responsible for actively monitoring and positively influencing spending on the Process Budget and Project Budget
  • Responsible for adherence to the Indirect Labour Budget
  • Responsible for allocated elements of the plant CAPEX Budget

Person Specification:

Qualifications: Numerate and literate to minimum GCSE \”C\” or \”4\” or equivalent and NVQ Level 3+ (or equivalent) in Injection Moulding and Process Conditioning. Degree level education within a managerial / engineering focused disciplinary (desirable).

Experience: Management of multi-skilled team of Process Engineers preferably within an FMCG environment. Working knowledge of continuous improvement tools with demonstrable results. Management of diverse team within an automotive unionised environment. Trained to green belt six sigma level. Experience of leading CI projects and initiatives

Behaviours: Influencing and persuasive style with motivational and coaching approach to team. Focused on health and safety and CI, with \”Can-do\” attitude and propensity to problem solve.

Business / Functional Skills: Computer literate with MS packages, and excellent communication skills at all levels. Ability to interpret data effectively and find solutions to low affected areas. KPI driven
