Job Description:

IARD is looking for an innovative and highly motivated Communications Manager to support our communications strategy and manage our media content. This role is ideal for a communications professional who is passionate about making a difference and eager to contribute to a global mission.

Your Role:

As a key member of the communications function, you will work with the Director of Communications to support delivery of a positive and proactive media strategy for IARD and manage our media content and its production. This will involve managing IARD’s social media channels and website, supporting delivery of IARD’s news monitoring and analysis, as well as building relationships with a network of journalists, industry commentators and media influencers globally.

What You’ll Do:

  • Supporting the Director of Communications to develop IARD’s profile with internal and external stakeholders including building relationships with a network of journalists, industry and media influencers globally.
  • Managing IARD’s social media channels to deliver a global digital PR and media strategy to drive awareness and comprehension of IARD amongst key stakeholders.
  • Managing IARD’s new website so that it it is seamlessly integrated with our other communication channels, it kept up to date with relevant content, and remains best-in-class
  • Develop and ideate engaging content for IARD’s website and media channels and writing and/or editing content so that it is accessible and compelling and delivers our key messages.
  • Being a core part of news monitoring and analysis team by collating, researching, writing news items for the daily newsletter as directed by the Head of News Analysis.
  • Manage our press contact database and schedule interviews.
  • Supporting the Director of Communications to manage IARD’s communications agency and other consultants to best effect, including to maintain, develop and improve IARD’s website.
  • Supporting the Director of Communications in drafting opinion pieces, blogs and press releases.
  • Analyzing and generating insight from digital tools, brand research and media monitoring platforms to evaluate success of IARD’s media strategy and drive future decisions.
  • Ensuring IARD’s external content is in line with IARD’s Style Guide and Tone of Voice.
  • Maintaining IARD’s lines to take and core scripts and developing toolkits for our Members and Partnership Council to use through their communications channels.
  • Undertaking any ad-hoc projects that may be required by the Director of Communications to support delivery of the Communications Strategy.

Skills, knowledge and experience required:

  • Proven experience of generating proactive media stories of strong interest with the media.
  • Drafting communications plans, press releases, talking points and Q&As.
  • Media handling and reputational management communications.
  • Experience taking technical copy and translating this into accessible communications.
  • Experience managing website content.
  • Social media expertise including digital content generation.
  • Ability to take complex information and make it simple and compelling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly across a range of tasks with different teams and experts.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • International media experience an advantage.
  • Experience in Comms agency or with agency, an advantage
