Overview

The Group combines airlines in Ireland, the UK and Spain with key non-airline businesses, enabling them to enhance their presence in the aviation market.
Purpose of the role
Define the Group’s partnership strategy and coordinate among IAG stakeholders.
Extract full value of existing joint businesses, alliances, codeshare and interline relationships, as well as identify potential future partnerships, airline and non-airline.
Build and maintain senior relationships with actual and prospective oneworld partners.
Fully participate in the development of corporate strategy and in the adjudication of corporate trade-offs.
Accountabilities
- Work with the Chief Commercial Strategy Officer, and Head of Strategy – Strategic Partnerips, to develop analysis and support the communication and implementation of strategies in many of the following areas:
- Provide IAG input into partnerships, alliances and other strategic options
- Support development of Corporate Strategy
- Develop strategies for IAG and the various components of the Group
- Assist in adjudicating corporate trade-offs
- Other ad hoc analyses and strategic projects
- Develop a comprehensive IAG view of competitive dynamics and evolving industry trends/patterns
- Assess Partnerships opportunities from the perspective of strategic fit and financial, customer and investor impact
- Provide briefings and formal documentation for decision-making by the IAG Management Committee and Board, including the preparation and review of Board papers
- Provide briefings for IAG CEO ahead of relevant oneworld and JV meetings and participate driving IAG’s partnership strategies
- Interact with the Operating Companies to gather information and build consensus
- Work with external stakeholders, e.g. investment banks, to gather and present information and analysis and build a strong case to support decisions
- Lead on engagement with key strategic partners on behalf of the Group
Required Skills, qualifications & experience
- Relevant experience (8+ years) in an airline strategy/alliance department, or a reputable advisory firm dealing with commercial aviation
- Understanding of commercial aviation economics
- Significant experience in strategy formulation and analysis of corporate strategy and corporate trade-offs
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with high levels of maturity
- Experience in presenting to executive leadership
- Ability to handle multiple work streams and to prioritise appropriately and dynamically
- Ability to work in a multi-functional team in cooperation with others
- Excellent negotiation, analytical and problem-solving abilities and commensurate confidence
- Able to cope under pressure, tight deadlines and ambiguity
- High level of integrity
