We are looking for a Research Associate to support a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship in the School of Mathematics. This project aims to find rigorous mathematical connections between continuous models of spacetime (Lorentzian manifolds) and discrete models (causal sets).
Responsibilities
- Study how geometric bounds constrain the topology of Lorentzian manifolds.
- Develop algorithms to recover Lorentzian manifolds from finite point samples.
- Use tools from mathematical statistics to evaluate these algorithms.
- Create a structured personal development plan with financial support to build your career in research mathematics.
Qualifications
- Hold a PhD in Mathematics, or be nearing completion of a PhD.
- Have a proven portfolio of research in Lorentzian geometry and/or manifold reconstruction.
- Have a proven ability to demonstrate creativity, innovation and team working.
