This is an exciting opportunity to take on a new role as a Psychology Assistant on the Brain and Genomics Hub, a high-profile national project funded by the Medical Research Council in schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and schizoaffective disorder. The Brain and Genomics Hub is part of a new national initiative for research in severe mental illness and is a large multi-site research study led by Cardiff University in conjunction with Swansea University, Bristol University, Exeter University, Adferiad Recovery and Bipolar UK.
The successful candidate will assist in a range of study-related tasks including recruitment and conducting assessments of people diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and schizoaffective disorder including clinical interviews, cognitive assessments, acquisition of MRI and MEG brain imaging data, and general day-to-day activities associated with a large multidisciplinary study.
Responsibilities- Assist in recruitment and conducting assessments for participants with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and schizoaffective disorder.
- Perform clinical interviews, cognitive assessments, and assist with acquisition of brain imaging data (MRI and MEG).
- Support day-to-day activities related to a large, multidisciplinary research study.
- Degree in Psychology or a related field.
- Experience of recruiting patients to research studies would be advantageous.
This post is based at the Hadyn Ellis Building, Cathays campus. The role is eligible to be offered on a blended working basis, with time on campus and from another location, e.g., home, where appropriate.
Contract and SalaryThis role is full-time (35 hours per week), available from 1st June 2026 and fixed term until 30th September 2027. Salary: £28,031 - £31,236 per annum (Grade 4). Appointments to roles at Cardiff University are usually made at bottom of scale unless in exceptional circumstances.
