CV Invasive Specialist $20,000 Sign on Bonus in Kettering

The CV Invasive Specialist performs duties necessary for cardiac catheterization procedures at a technical and professional level requiring some proctoring and supervision of technical detail. The Specialist performs a variety of technical procedures that require some independent judgment. The CV Invasive Specialist assumes responsibility and initiative for designated areas and procedures as required.

• Shift Details: 36 hours per week; 4x 9-hour shifts
• Share on call obligations on nights, weekends, and holidays (requires 30-minute response time)
• Regular Lab hours are 7:00am-4:30pm Monday- Friday
• Call hours 4:30pm-7:00am with 24-hour coverage Saturday, Sunday and holidays

Unit Details

• We care for patients undergoing Cardiac, Electrophysiology, and Structural Heart procedures
• 4 state of the art cath labs plus one hybrid room
• Collaborative respectful culture with a tight‑knit and cohesive team
• 3 person teams including an RN, a scrub tech, and an additional tech or nurse
• Documentation via Epic and MacLab
• Combination of RN conscious sedation and anesthesia

As a CV Invasive Specialist at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring our patients receive the best care by:

Essential Functions

• Participate in procedure room preparation and post procedure turn around.
• Develop specific knowledge with regard to invasive, diagnostic, and interventional supplies which includes assisting in inventory control.
• Develops specific knowledge of applications, proper use and deployment techniques including documenting hemodynamic recordings, calculations, and interpretations.
• Provide patient education and emotional support for patients and their family members; ensure patient comfort.
• Foster teamwork and cohesiveness with team members and physicians.
• Develop knowledge specific to cardiopulmonary pathophysiology, pharmacology, anatomic anomalies, and treatment options.
• Assess the condition of the patient, document, and inform physician of deviations from normal criteria throughout the procedure.
• Understand and apply principles of x-ray generation and safety.
• Understand and demonstrate the correct operation of imaging equipment.
• May mix and administer medications under the direction and supervision of the physician (RCIS or RCES is required to pass medications).
• At the end of the procedure, may apply closure device, suture the sheath in place, or remove the sheath and apply pressure to obtain hemostasis.
• Provide thorough and accurate documentation of each procedure and associated events.
• Develop skills in operating, calibrating, and troubleshooting equipment in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
• Perform point of care testing and QA.

Accountabilities

• Scrub, circulate, and monitor in diagnostic, interventional, and CRM procedures according to scope of practice documents.
• Complete procedure data entry; acquire and process imaging studies, hemodynamic assessment and calculations, intra-procedure CathPCI registry requirements, and prepare procedural reports.

Minimum Qualifications

• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
• PALS certification for children’s hospitals or ACLS certification for adults. New employees must obtain within 3 months of start.
• Bachelor’s degree in health science with six months of health care experience (e.g., Cath Lab, EP, EMT, Paramedic, CNA, Surgical tech) or – Graduate of a Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or Nursing program or – Graduate of a diploma or associate program in health science with one year of health care experience (e.g., Cath Lab, EP, EMT, Paramedic, Surgical tech, RN/LPN) or – Graduate of a non-programmatically accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology which has a minimum of one year of specialty training and includes a minimum of 800 clinical hours. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
• Intermediate computer skills.

• Fluoroscopy Operator Certification as required in the state of Colorado.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of CV Invasive Training experience.

Minimum Qualifications CV Invasive Specialist II

• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
• PALS certification for children’s hospitals or ACLS certification for adults. New employees must obtain within 3 months of start.
• Beginning March 1, 2026 must be registered as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or ARRT-CI or ARRT-VI only or RN (previous relevant RN experience required).
• Demonstrated expertise in performing complex diagnostic and advanced interventional procedures or demonstrated understanding and proficiency in correlation with years of experience with regards to electrophysiology procedures.
• Maintains at least 12 hours of continuing medical education (CME) credits per year.
• Demonstrates clinical competence of CVIS/CVES skills evidenced by skills sign off.
• Surgical Tech/Assistant Certification per state requirements.
• Fluoroscopy Operator Certification as required in the state of Colorado.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in health science program. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or Respiratory Therapy program.
• One year of Invasive Cardiovascular Technology or Electrophysiology experience (not including academic training or CVIS training).

Physical Requirements

• Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
• Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
• Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
• Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.).
• May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

For roles requiring driving:

• Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
