We are seeking a motivated and experienced lawyer to join us as a central member of our Transactional Shipping team. Ideally suited for an experienced Associate or a current Senior Associate, this role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of matters with high visibility. The position places a particular emphasis on either—or both—of the following core areas:
- Sale and purchase, shipbuilding, charterparties, and other maritime contracts/project work;
- Shipping and offshore finance, including debt, leasing, and equity.
Responsibilities
- Take a high degree of responsibility for managing complex cases, including drafting and negotiating key documents.
- Handle matters regarding sale and purchase, shipbuilding, charterparties, and project work, as well as shipping and offshore finance (debt, leasing, equity).
- Actively engage with clients, serving as a primary point of contact and building strong professional relationships.
- Supervise and manage junior team members, ensuring high standards of work and delivery.
- Play an active role in the growth of the practice through business development initiatives.
- Undertake international travel as required to support transactions and client needs.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ PQE, currently operating at a Senior Associate level or equivalent.
- Proven experience with the responsibility of managing others.
- Excellent drafting and transaction management skills are essential.
- You must be motivated, enthusiastic, and able to thrive in a fast-paced working environment.
- Strong business development skills and a genuine relish for client contact.
- Operate as a central member of a specialized team with a clear trajectory for professional development.
- Enjoy a high degree of responsibility and ownership over the cases you work on.
