Team Overview
- The real estate finance team operates at the top of the market, advising both lenders and sponsors on investment and development financing in the UK and across Europe.
- The practice also covers senior/mezzanine facilities, investment grade financing, and distressed or non-performing loan transactions.
- Two-partner team with a strong cohort of associates and trainees.
- Consistently ranked in the top tiers by leading legal directories.
- Regularly advises on high-profile and sophisticated mandates.
- Works closely with the wider real estate and finance teams across Europe.
- Balanced lender/borrower practice, with a significant portion of lender-side work.
Primary Objectives
- Deliver excellent client service and lead high-value real estate finance transactions.
- Meet and exceed billable hours and performance expectations.
- Build and develop strong client relationships.
- Contribute to business development and growth initiatives.
- Supervise, support, and mentor junior team members.
Responsibilities
- Handle a broad range of transactional real estate finance matters with both domestic and cross-border elements.
- Act as lead lawyer on suitable transactions, delegating effectively and coordinating with partners and colleagues.
- Provide strategic advice on complex legal issues and manage matters efficiently, including WIP and billing.
- Strengthen client relationships by anticipating needs, communicating proactively, and delivering high-quality advice.
- Support firm-wide initiatives, including diversity & inclusion, CSR, training, and industry engagement.
- Comply with all risk, regulatory, and professional obligations, and contribute to client onboarding and acceptance processes.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Qualified solicitor (or equivalent) in a relevant jurisdiction.
- Senior associate-level experience in real estate finance from a comparable environment.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, writing, and project management skills.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of law firm financial performance.
- Knowledge of real estate finance products and client sectors.
