Team Overview
The real estate finance team operates at the top of the market, advising both lenders and sponsors on investment and development financing in the UK and across Europe. The practice also covers senior/mezzanine facilities, investment grade financing, and distressed or non-performing loan transactions.
- Two-partner team with a strong cohort of associates and trainees
- Consistently ranked in the top tiers by leading legal directories
- Regularly advises on high-profile and sophisticated mandates
- Works closely with the wider real estate and finance teams across Europe
- Balanced lender/borrower practice, with a significant portion of lender-side work
Primary Objectives
- Deliver excellent client service and lead high-value real estate finance transactions
- Meet and exceed billable hours and performance expectations
- Build and develop strong client relationships
- Contribute to business development and growth initiatives
- Supervise, support, and mentor junior team members
Responsibilities
- Handle a broad range of transactional real estate finance matters with both domestic and cross-border elements
- Act as lead lawyer on suitable transactions, delegating effectively and coordinating with partners and colleagues
- Provide strategic advice on complex legal issues and manage matters efficiently, including WIP and billing
- Strengthen client relationships by anticipating needs, communicating proactively, and delivering high-quality advice
- Support firm-wide initiatives, including diversity & inclusion, CSR, training, and industry engagement
- Comply with all risk, regulatory, and professional obligations, and contribute to client onboarding and acceptance processes
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Qualified solicitor (or equivalent) in a relevant jurisdiction
- Senior associate-level experience in real estate finance from a comparable environment
- Strong drafting, negotiation, writing, and project management skills
- Commercial awareness and understanding of law firm financial performance
- Knowledge of real estate finance products and client sectors
