About the Role
We are a leading multi-brand ecommerce group operating within the home interiors sector, generating circa £60m annual revenue.
Following a successful MBO in 2024, we have ambitious plans to aggressively grow the business.
To support this next phase of growth, we are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Head of Ecommerce to lead our marketing and digital teams.
This is a broad leadership role with responsibility across ecommerce trading, customer acquisition, CRM, CRO and digital optimisation.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future growth of the Group and has the opportunity to develop as part of the Senior leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
- Ecommerce Trading
- Reporting into Commercial Director and as member of the Senior Executive team, will have a lead role in shaping the direction of the business.
- Own the trading performance of the Group's strategic ecommerce brands.
- Deliver revenue and margin targets.
- Develop promotional and trading calendars.
- Drive improvements in conversion, average order value and customer lifetime value.
- Identify new growth opportunities and commercial initiatives.
- Support the ongoing optimisation of the Group's ecommerce brand portfolio.
- Performance Marketing
- Lead customer acquisition strategy across Paid Search, Paid Social, SEO and CRM.
- Optimise media investment and marketing efficiency across all performance channels.
- Work closely with internal teams and agency partners to maximise return on investment.
- Drive improvements in customer acquisition cost, return on ad spend, lifetime value and overall marketing effectiveness.
- Ensure alignment between brand-building activity, demand creation and performance marketing objectives.
- Strategic Platform & Partner Management
- Own senior commercial relationships with platform account management teams including Google, Meta, Microsoft, Pinterest and Tik Tok.
- Leverage platform partnerships to identify new growth opportunities, beta programmes, product launches and best practice adoption.
- Evaluate and implement emerging digital advertising and ecommerce capabilities that can drive competitive advantage.
- Lead relationships with specialist third-party digital partners, including shopping feed management platforms and other performance marketing technology providers.
- Ensure all platform and technology partnerships deliver measurable commercial value and support the Group's growth objectives.
- Customer Journey, CRO & Digital Growth
- Own the ecommerce customer journey and conversion optimisation roadmap.
- Lead CRO prioritisation and testing programmes across the Group's strategic ecommerce brands.
- Identify opportunities to improve website performance, lead generation, conversion rate, customer engagement and online sales.
- Partner with UX and development teams to improve customer experience and ecommerce performance.
- Champion a test-and-learn culture supported by data and insight.
- Cross-functional Leadership
- Lead and develop the Marketing Manager, PPC Manager, Web Manager and their respective teams.
- Provide leadership across performance marketing, CRM, SEO, content and digital growth initiatives.
- Partner with the Business Intelligence team to drive insight-led decision making and performance analysis.
- Work closely with the Head of Graphics & Design to ensure alignment between brand, content, creative and commercial objectives.
- Partner with Customer Care and Trade & Telesales Managers to understand customer friction, ensure alignment with brand strategy and budget performance, including leading ecommerce performance through our trade online ordering portal.
- Reporting, Planning & Commercial Performance
- Produce regular trading and performance reviews with clear recommendations and actions.
- Develop annual trading, marketing and growth plans.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and long-term strategic planning.
- Monitor and report on key commercial performance indicators across acquisition, conversion, retention and profitability.
- Provide strategic recommendations and commercial insight to the Commercial Director and wider leadership team.
Experience Required
- Proven success within ecommerce, digital trading and performance marketing environments at £10m+ per annum marketing budget level.
- Strong understanding of Paid Search, Paid Social, SEO, CRM, email marketing and digital acquisition channels.
- Experience within a fast-paced environment, effectively managing significant digital marketing budgets and multiple acquisition channels.
- Experience working directly with major advertising platforms including Google, Meta and Microsoft.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance growth, profitability and customer acquisition efficiency.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders across multiple departments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience of CRO, customer journey optimisation and ecommerce trading.
- Experience within multi-brand, consumer-facing or high-growth businesses would be advantageous.
