Part-time paid role (around two days per week)

Based in Herne Hill, South London

The Intergenerational Foundation is looking for a thoughtful, organised and proactive person to help coordinate our research, communications, fundraising and public affairs work.

This is a flexible part‑time role, likely around two days per week, based at our office in Herne Hill. The role may suit someone looking for meaningful and flexible work that can fit around school hours or other commitments.

We are particularly interested in candidates with professional experience in public policy, communications, charities, fundraising, research, campaigning or public affairs.

About the Intergenerational Foundation

The Intergenerational Foundation (IF) is an independent, non‑party‑political charity that researches fairness between generations and advocates for the interests of younger and future generations.

Over the last 15 years, we have helped place intergenerational fairness at the centre of UK policy debates. Our work is regularly cited by politicians, policymakers, journalists, academics and broadcasters.

We work on a wide range of issues affecting younger and future generations, including housing, pensions, taxation, government debt, higher education, wealth, health, public services and the environment.

We are a small team, so everyone’s contribution matters. The role would be varied, hands‑on and central to helping IF become better organised, better known and more effective.

It is also about helping IF build stronger relationships with donors, journalists, policymakers, volunteers, fellows, former staff and partner organisations.

You would work closely with the research team to help ensure that IF’s research is published effectively, communicated clearly and used to influence public debate.

  • Helping to keep the Herne Hill office organised, welcoming and effective

Research pipeline and publications

  • Working with the research team to maintain a clear pipeline of reports, blogs and other outputs
  • Helping researchers stay on track with deadlines, launches and follow‑up activitySupporting the planning and delivery of research launches, including invitations, stakeholder lists, press outreach and social media promotion

Communications and social media

  • Helping to publicise IF’s work through LinkedIn, Instagram, newsletters and other channels
  • Supporting the production and scheduling of social media posts, graphics, website updates and newsletters
  • Helping to turn IF’s research into clear and engaging public‑facing communications

Press and public affairs

  • Helping to manage press requests and build relationships with journalists
  • Supporting contact with policymakers, parliamentarians, think tanks, charities, academics and other organisations
  • Helping IF remain engaged with relevant policy debates while retaining its independent voice

  • Helping to manage grant applications, corporate sponsorships and donor relationships
  • Identifying new funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, individuals and organisations whose missions align with IF’s work
  • Helping IF communicate clearly with current and prospective donors

Volunteers, fellows and interns

  • Helping to engage, encourage and coordinate IF volunteers
  • Supporting the development of IF’s fellows network
  • Helping to organise and line‑manage interns working with IF
  • Maintaining contact with former IF staff, interns and supporters, including through events or alumni networks

Partnerships and international links

  • Helping IF maintain relationships with partner organisations in the UK and internationally
