The Role
Are you ready to power into a rewarding career in energy? We’re looking for a passionate and drivenMarket Analysts to join our growing team inEdinburgh . In this role, you’ll provide in-depth analysis of energy markets across the UK and Europe. You’ll monitor market trends, build analytical models, and support trading strategies to help optimise our market positions.
We’re looking for someone with relevant experience in a similar role – someone excited to dive into the fast-paced world of energy, accelerate their growth, and make a real impact from day one.
Summary of Responsibilities
Market Analysis: Conduct comprehensive analysis of energy market data including price trends, weather fundamentals, supply and demand. Analyse meteorological data and market conditions to create innovative trading strategies.
Model Development: Develop and maintain analytical models to forecast market movements and support trading decisions.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams, including traders, data scientists, risk managers and trading leadership, to provide insight and recommendations.
Innovation: Helping define Powertica’s trading processes and data models, working closely with traders and data scientists to build robust analytical tools that identify new trading strategies and maximise value.
Why you?
You will bring a strong grasp of European energy markets and their fundamental drivers, with a proven ability to add value to these through short-term trading strategies. Strong numeracy skills are second nature to you, and you\’re confident working with data to uncover insights and translate them into actionable trading decisions.
You’re proficient in Python and SQL, and comfortable navigating complex datasets to support commercial outcomes. With a continuous improvement mindset, you’re always looking for ways to refine processes and sharpen performance. You thrive in entrepreneurial environments like Powertica’s (we’re curious, adaptable, and eager to grow!) You communicate clearly and confidently, whether presenting analysis or collaborating with colleagues across our departments. Above all, you’re a team player!
