Are you ready for a new challenging and rewarding career? We are looking for a new Legal and Compliance Manager to join as a key member of our Trading & Commercial team. This role will be at the forefront of our regulatory and compliance efforts, ensuring we navigate the complex regulatory landscape with expertise and precision. You will bring strong subject matter expertise in regulatory affairs and market compliance surveillance, leading this function within Powertica UK and providing solid advice on local and European regulations. Summary of Responsibilities- Monitor, analyse and interpret local and European regulations, providing expert and timely advice and guidance across the organisation delivering solutions whilst managing risk.
- Develop strong relationships and liaise with key internal and external stakeholders (including regulatory bodies e.g. Ofgem, FCA).
- Deal with external inquiries from regulatory authorities (Ofgem, FCA), market platforms (e.g. EPEX, Nordpool), and others (National Grid ESO), escalating where required.
- Report on compliance and governance matters to the Chief Executive Officer.
- Analyse new trading products/geographies and provide guidance on risks and mitigation measures.
- Plan and deliver bespoke training programs related to REMIT and market abuse regulations to teams, deliver employee training on the regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Participate in industry association meetings, advocacy, regulatory proceedings, and market rules/legislation development.
Why you? You are a subject matter expert in UK legislation, market codes and your knowledge of regulations like MAR, MiFID, EMIR and REMIT are unmatched. You will excel in short-term market compliance, CCGT monitoring and have previous experience with EU commodity exchanges and derivative trading. You'll bring excellent communication skills, using them to regularly communicate with regulatory authorities like Ofgem and the FCA, meaning that building relationships will come naturally to you. You have an entrepreneurial spirit, strong analytical skills and get satisfaction from solving complex regulatory issues. You are a legal and compliance master who can balance market compliance with commercial opportunities while maintaining governance frameworks and compliance reporting, ready to take on a new challenge and help us drive compliance excellence.
