Enjoy understanding how software works and explaining it to other people? This is a chance to build a career around software solutions, customer presentations and public sector tenders with an established, employee owned UK technology business.

Our client develops software used by organisations managing highways, street works and other infrastructure. Its sales team wins work through a considered process: finding opportunities, understanding what customers need, preparing detailed responses and showing how the product solves practical problems.

You would join a small, experienced team and learn that process from the inside. The role is particularly suited to someone living within practical reach of Warrington who can spend regular time working alongside the team's manager. Previous highways or tender experience would be welcome, but the client is open to someone with strong software and product aptitude who can develop those skills.

What you will do

  • Help identify and assess new tender and customer opportunities.
  • Support responses to RFIs, pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs), invitations to tender (ITTs) and proposals.
  • Learn the software well enough to answer product questions accurately and help prepare demonstrations.
  • Join customer meetings and presentations, gradually taking more ownership as your knowledge grows.
  • Work with product, technical and delivery colleagues to gather information for clear, persuasive answers.
  • Help maintain demonstration environments, presentation material and other bid content.
  • Assist the team in spotting opportunities with existing customers as well as new ones.

What we are looking for

  • An interest in software products and the ability to grasp how systems fit into a customer's work.
  • Clear writing, confident communication and the willingness to present to people.
  • Care with detail and deadlines; tender responses need both.
  • Some commercial experience with software, SaaS, applications or technical products. This could come from product support, implementation, customer success, presales, business analysis, technical sales or a relevant graduate role.
  • A collaborative approach and a genuine desire to learn a specialist market.

You do not need to be a developer or arrive knowing every aspect of highways. Familiarity with web applications, SaaS, mobile apps or integrations would be useful. The role involves travel to customers and events, occasionally including overnight stays; a clean driving licence is required.

Why consider it?

You'll get close to the product, the customer and the whole tender lifecycle, with room to develop into an independent solutions consultant. The employer is long established and employee owned, and the work has a tangible purpose: helping organisations manage vital infrastructure.
