Looking for flexibility in your next IT role? We are offering a rare opportunity within IT; a part-time, job share position where you can maintain and develop your technical skills whilst achieving genuine work-life balance. This role would suit an experienced IT Support professional, it is not a trainee / junior role, looking to reduce their hours without stepping away from meaningful technical responsibility.

Why this role stands out
  • Genuine part-time IT opportunity
  • Flexible job share arrangement
  • Broad and varied technical environment
  • Mix of support, infrastructure and project work
  • Stable and established business environment
  • Potential opportunity to become permanent within the next 3–6 months, although there is absolutely no obligation to do so or promise this will happen
The Role

This is a hands-on IT support position supporting users across multiple nearby sites. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing first-line and second-line support across hardware, software, printers and business applications
  • Supporting Microsoft desktop operating systems and user environments
  • Installing, configuring and maintaining IT equipment and software
  • Assisting with server administration, backups and disaster recovery processes
  • Supporting infrastructure and systems improvement projects
  • Training and assisting users to get the best from technology
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues across a varied IT estate

The support workload is manageable, with approximately 10 tickets per day shared across the team based on severity and technical ownership.

Technical Environment

Exposure includes:

  • Microsoft operating systems and desktop environments
  • Business applications and end-user support
  • VMware / vSphere
  • Hyper-V
  • Backup and recovery solutions
  • TCP/IP networking
  • VoIP systems
  • General LAN and on-premise technologies

Whilst an appreciation of networking and infrastructure is beneficial, this is not a networking role. There is no expectation that you will be replacing failed switches or carrying out complex network engineering activities. Those responsibilities sit with senior technical resources and external specialist providers. The role is far more suited to someone with a desktop support, systems support or general IT support background than a dedicated networking professional.

About You

You will enjoy both technical problem solving and supporting users. You will bring:

  • Strong Microsoft support experience
  • Experience supporting desktop operating systems and business applications
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • A proactive and practical approach to problem solving
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work independently

Desirable experience includes:

  • VMware or vSphere
  • Hyper-V
  • Infrastructure support
  • Networking fundamentals
  • Project participation
  • IT qualifications or relevant certifications
Working Pattern

22.5 or 26.25 hours per week

Job share arrangement

Working pattern agreed during the interview process

Afternoon-only working may be possible

Applications from candidates seeking slightly fewer hours will also be considered

Fully on-site position in Ossett

There is:

  • No on-call requirement
  • No regular out-of-hours support requirement
  • Occasional project activity may take place outside standard hours. Participation is entirely optional and any additional time worked is provided back as time off in lieu.
Ideal For
  • Parents returning to IT
  • Experienced IT professionals seeking reduced hours
  • IT Support Analysts looking for improved work-life balance
  • Candidates wanting to remain technically hands-on without the pressure of a heavily escalated support environment
Benefits

  • Private healthcare (subject to qualifying criteria)
  • Company pension scheme
  • Additional discretionary benefits may include:
    • Birthday off
    • Christmas Eve off
