Responsibilities
We are looking for a SQL DBA to support our business operations, looking to identify improvements that can be made throughout the organisation. As the organisation is rapidly expanding the systems need to expand with it, so a major part of this role will be to ensure we have capacity for future growth and to ensure stability.
Working closely with the team the SQL DBA will ensure that all IT policies and procedures are maintained in line with PCI DSS and ITIL guidelines. The successful candidate will also proactively review and evaluate new technologies so that the Database infrastructure can maintain the current and future business needs.

Experience Required
- Essential
- Demonstrable, recent experience of troubleshooting, optimizing and SQL server and associated client tools and systems based on SQL Server 2008, 2008 R2, and SQL Server 2012 SQL Server 2014 – Enterprise.
- Experience of both project and 1st, 2nd and 3rd tier support work on SQL Server – 2008 R2, SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2014 – Enterprise.
- Migration and upgrades of SQL Server Instances – Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2008 R2, SQL Server 2012 SQL Server 2014 – Enterprise.
- Managing both company “home-grown” and application driven databases supported by SQL Server/ DataWarehouse.
- Demonstrate recent experience of problem solving around, query performance improvement, locking behaviour, blocking behaviour, deadlocks behaviour, and scheduled task failure and server performance management.
- SQL Server Development – and database design/optimisation
- Experience of working in a fast-moving, energetic, commercially orientated environment – will be advantageous.
- Exposure to XML based data.
- Any c# or VB.Net will be valuable.
- Powershell Scripting – will be advantageous.
Responsibilities (cont.)
- Reporting to the Data Services Manager your responsibilities will include:-
- Day to day management and preventative maintenance of SQL Server Instances/ Data warehouse estate
- Work with SQL/Data Warehouse development teams to improve service design, capacity planning and improve code performance.
- Performance monitoring, Optimization, identifying bottlenecks, respond to ad hoc alerts. And Trouble-shooting of Databases/Data warehouse and Business critical applications
- Work with Third party/infrastructure team/Storage engineers to improve hardware configuration/resilience and performance.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL-Reporting Services (SSRS), Microsoft SQL Integration Services (SSIS) and Microsoft SQL Analysis Services (SSAS)
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 & Business Intelligences Development Studio 2008 (BIDS 2008)
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio Team System 2008 & Team Foundation Server (TFS)
- Created and Manage SQL Agent System/Task Scheduler maintenance jobs for overnight ETL processes.
- Performance tuning of New/Existing indexes/Statistics and stored procedures used in current ETL process and existing SSRS reports on both SQL Server/Data warehouse etc.
- Operation of security schema and user access, extending the schema as required/appropriate
- Preparing and deploying SQL batch scripts and management utilities and support of Development Life Cycles
Qualifications
- Candidates will preferably hold Microsoft certification, MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist) or MCITP (Microsoft Certified IT Professional) or willing to study towards this accreditation.
- Skills / Experience Requirements
- Team Foundation Server 2010 (desirable).
- Excellent interpersonal communication at all levels.
- Strong prioritisation and time management skills.
