Description

We are recruiting for a BI Developer to join an Enterprise level systems development team. The role has responsibility and joint accountability with the Systems Development Manager for the quality of tasks performed and services provided in:

Responsibilities

  1. Scheduling and completion of work within Systems Development to ensure project deliverables are achieved and support the business requirements.
  2. Ensure the completion of work that supports the day to day operations of the GROUPS IT software.
  3. Provide input into the direction of BI.
  4. Support the lead developer for small and large development projects.
  5. Work from high level designs to develop resilient, high-performance database solutions that conform to the company’s existing standards.
  6. Contribute to release notes.
  7. Develop responsibility and get involved in project based tasks focusing on the development stage, but also providing support where necessary throughout the product life cycle.

Skills and Experience Requirements

  1. Demonstrates a driven, focused commitment to the delivery of the key accountabilities defined above.
  2. Any experience of developing Business Intelligence solutions in a commercial setting would be beneficial.
  3. Experience of using the SQL Server 2008 platform and tools, including Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server Management Studio.
  4. Experience of using SQL for data querying, programming and creation of database objects as part of larger solutions.
  5. Beneficial Experience:
  • Experience in designing end to end data warehouse and BI solutions.
  • Experience of using Integration Services to develop ETL solutions.
  • Experience of using Analysis Services to develop OLAP cubes.
  • Experience of creating reports using Reporting Services.
  • Experience of using Excel for the manipulation and display of complex data.
  • Experience of using Transact SQL (T-SQL).
  • Experience of working in a large organisation.
  • Experience of using analysis tools.
  • Experience of using MDX queries to work with OLAP cube data.

Qualifications

  1. Specific qualifications at degree level are not necessary but may be advantageous.
  2. Industry / professional qualifications in a relevant subject such as Microsoft Developer certifications are not necessary but may be advantageous.
  3. Industry / professional qualifications in Business Intelligence / Data Warehousing are not necessary but may be advantageous.
