Overview
We are looking to recruit a high performing IT and Data Services Manager to take overall responsibility for an IT infrastructure, its operation and strategic development.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate several years’ broad management experience within IT services, ideally within an educational environment.
They will be comfortable forming strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, have the ability to manage and implement change and to manage technical details and direct technical staff.
The role includes management of a small and dedicated team covering all aspects of IT from day-to-day service delivery to strategic planning.
The Trust uses an ITIL based approach to service management in an environment supporting around 600 users including Windows PCs and i Pads.
Infrastructure is based on Microsoft Active Directory, MS Exchange, and MS Office 365 Cloud services (including Share Point and One Drive).
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the IT infrastructure, its operation and strategic development.
- Manage a small dedicated team covering day-to-day service delivery and strategic planning.
- Form strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.
- Manage and implement change, including technical details and direction of technical staff.
- Apply an ITIL based approach to service management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Several years’ broad management experience within IT services, ideally within an educational environment.
- Strong understanding of modern infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers from mainstream vendors.
- Knowledge of enterprise SAN storage, fibre‑channel and i SCSI fabric networks, and a thorough understanding of Windows desktop OS.
- Experience with hosted infrastructure such as Microsoft Office 365.
- Experience with tablet technology, preferably i Pad, as a key business or education tool.
- Conversant with standard networking concepts and implementation, including routing, VLAN and Vo IP telephony.
- Knowledge of network perimeter security, including Firewall, mail and web gateways, IPS, IDS, centralised log management or SIEM.
- Understanding of information security management principals and practice, such as ISO27001, and ability to apply appropriate security tools and techniques.
- Experience with disaster recovery planning and enterprise‑class backup solutions.
