Region: West Central Scotland

This is an opportunity to join a global manufacturing and engineering firm with multiple sites UK wide. The IT Department is a global department with technicians and support based at most sites. The work is shared and IT deals with issues from all sites, therefore a great deal of communication skills and flexibility is required. The UK business currently employs around 350-400 employees with an average service history of 12 years. The Scottish sites operate across Glasgow, Irvine and Cumbernauld. The role is based in the Glasgow site for 4 days per week. Irvine and Cumbernauld will be serviced alternate weeks for 1 day per week.

Role Purpose:

To support desktop applications and platforms within an office and manufacturing environment. The role is both 1st and 2nd line focused but with the added ability to get heavily involved in a number of projects including hardware refreshes, cyber security rollouts, various software/database projects as well as cloud migration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to requests for technical assistance in person, via phone, and helpdesk.
  • Assist with diagnosing and resolving technical hardware and software issues.
  • Log all helpdesk interactions.
  • Follow standard operating procedures.
  • Redirect IT issues to appropriate resources.
  • Identify and escalate issues requiring urgent attention.
  • Create and maintain user accounts in Active Directory and Google Administration console.
  • Build and refurbish PCs and laptops as required.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent in a computing subject.
  • Experience using and/or supporting components of the Google Suite of applications including, but not limited to Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Calendar.
  • MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) in Windows 10/11 environment.
  • Understanding and experience of CompTIA A+ (PC Hardware Break Fix), exposure to Windows Server 2003/2008, SQL 2005/2008, and SharePoint 2010 would be advantageous.
  • 2-3 years experience in a Helpdesk Support / IT Technician type role.
  • Ability to travel to different sites - Full UK Driving licence is required.
