Due to ongoing expansion and a commitment to engineering excellence, they are seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to strengthen their technical team.
The OpportunityIn this role, you\’ll be at the heart of developing the control architecture for bespoke, one‐off machines. This is a position for an engineer who excels in a special‐purpose / discrete manufacturing environment—not process or batch‐based industries. You\’ll be designing, refining, and supporting control systems across the full project lifecycle, ensuring exceptional machine performance and user‐friendly operation.
You\’ll work closely with colleagues in mechanical engineering, software, production, and customer service, contributing to both new product development and ongoing improvements. The role also includes some international travel for commissioning, troubleshooting, and supporting installations at customer sites.
What You\’ll Be Doing
Engineering motion and automation control solutions for complex multi‐axis machinery
Programming, testing, and refining PLC, motion, and HMI systems
Creating intuitive HMI interfaces focused on operator usability and clarity
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams
Influencing the evolution of control system architecture and product enhancements
Participating in commissioning activities and providing occasional on‐site technical assistance abroad
Producing clear, comprehensive documentation for internal and external stakeholders
About You
Solid background in machine build, automation equipment, or special‐purpose machinery
Strong technical understanding of motion control and multi‐axis systems
Experience with Beckhoff or Bosch Rexroth platforms (highly advantageous)
Ability to design clean, intuitive HMIs with user experience in mind
Hands‐on knowledge of PLCs, drives, sensors, safety systems, and industrial networks
Confidence in diagnosing faults, commissioning complex machines, and solving problems under pressure
Clear communication and documentation skills
