An experienced Infrastructure Consultant is now required to assist in the smooth running and operation of both cloud hosted environments as well as locally managed infrastructure. Experience supporting, maintaining and tuning database platforms (Oracle, SQL and DB2), including backup plans and patching regimes would be beneficial. Experience working with Oracle in a support role would be a distinct advantage as our supported client portfolio under the Oracle platform continues to grow.
As an Infrastructure Support Consultant, you will provide first and second line support and undertake technical project work as necessary. This will incorporate the administration and continued improvement of all IT systems including:
- Providing full support for physical servers, virtual servers and end user workstations
- Support of Oracle platform systems including system replication for DR and backup/mirroring
- Configuring, monitoring and maintaining the company’s infrastructure in Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP
- Maintaining the company’s public cloud-based services hosted primarily in Rackspace, but also including IBM, AWS and Azure
- Taking a proactive approach to the monitoring and patching of company systems using tools such as Netwrix, Nexpose, WSUS and Site24x7
Skill Requirements – Essential:
- Experience working within or implementing ITIL-based and ITIL-centric procedures
- Exposure to virtualisation technologies (VMWare/HyperV)
- Experience of firewalls, switches, routers and VPN/Load balancing technologies
- Network Security, Passwords and IT Policy
- Database administration and configuration skills including Oracle, SQL and DB2 (Oracle skills and experience would be a distinct advantage)
- Knowledge and skills with Microsoft Office 365/Microsoft Networking/PowerShell
Skill Requirements – Preferable:
- A focus on security in order to allow our staff to do their jobs efficiently whilst keeping our systems as secure as possible
- Demonstrable experience in designing/applying IT/infrastructure measures to improve or guarantee adequate security standards are met (ISO27001)
- Good knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, WSUS, etc.
- Telephony systems including desk telephones, tablets and mobile devices
- Microsoft PowerShell/Chef/Puppet/Docker/Octopus
