The Vacancy

Graduate / Junior Software Developer – Remote (Initial Training and occasional attendance to the head office and customer sites may be required)

Purpose of the role

We are delighted to be offering a unique opportunity for a Software Developer to join our friendly team. We are looking for someone with a coding background to help maintain and support our existing software as well as learn to analyse, develop and test all new applications using the appropriate processes, methods and standards.

What you will do

  • In this role, you will work as part of a team to develop complex [Windows / Web / Mobile] solutions using a range of Microsoft technologies – guiding projects through the full Software Development Life Cycle:
  • Planning
  • Analysis
  • Design
  • Implementation
  • Testing & Integration
  • Maintenance
  • Help produce technical documentation to support the development of new systems.
  • Develop relationships with Customers, and their IT Teams, to aid full understanding of business requirements and make recommendations as and when required to improve systems.
  • Liaise with the larger team to ensure priorities are being correctly addressed.
  • Contribute to and implement improvements to best practices, high quality design and development of software.
  • Work on-call for our 24-7 Rota.
  • Work on early morning start-ups once per month.

Working with others on a remote basis you will maintain effective verbal and written communication and build relationships with all colleagues and customers to promote a professional business environment. You will have a passion for clean code, testing and modern software practices.

    Essential Skills & Qualifications

    • Educated to Degree level or equivalent within Information Technology.
    • Demonstrate a systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving.
    • Effective communication, teamwork skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
    • Flexible, creative and able to absorb new information or change in plans quickly and in a rapidly changing environment.
    • Excellent time management and planning.
