About Intercultural Youth Scotland (IYS)

The Role
We are looking for a Youth Work Officer to support the delivery and development of our Youth Work Programme. Working closely with the Youth Work Coordinator, you will help deliver engaging and culturally responsive youth work sessions, support young people to shape activities, and build relationships with community partners. You will play an important role in helping BPoC young people develop skills, confidence and a sense of belonging. A key part of this role includes supporting our weekly youth club The Block, a welcoming space for young people aged 12–29 to socialise, explore interests and take part in creative and developmental activities.
What You’ll Do
- Design and deliver engaging youth work sessions and projects
- Support young people to actively shape and lead programme activities
- Help recruit and support artists, facilitators and session staff
- Build relationships with schools, youth organisations and community partners
- Promote youth work opportunities and encourage participation
- Gather monitoring and evaluation data to measure programme impact
- Support programme administration and coordination
- Ensure safeguarding and wellbeing of young people during all activities
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across IYS to connect young people with wider opportunities
About You
We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and committed to equality and anti-racism. You will bring:
- A Youth Work qualification (or related field)
- Experience supporting young people or facilitating youth activities
- Experience working with BPoC young people
- Experience working in a youth, community or third-sector setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with young people, colleagues, and partners.
- Organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Empathy and understanding of the barriers faced by BPoC young people in Scotland.
- Commitment to anti-racism, equality, and youth empowerment
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practice
- Experience providing administrative or coordination support to youth projects.
- Experience working in schools or other community-based settings.
- Experience gathering monitoring and evaluation data.
