At InterContinental London Park Lane, we are currently looking for a Shift Engineer to join the Facilities and Engineering team. Located at one of the capital's most prestigious addresses, our hotel redefines traditional luxury, offering a blend of modernity and flexible sophistication in the heart of Mayfair.

About the Role

As a Shift Engineer, you will ensure the seamless operation of all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and life-safety systems throughout the hotel. You will apply strong engineering discipline, proactive fault-finding, and an unwavering commitment to guest comfort and statutory compliance.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Operating, monitoring, diagnosing, and repairing core building infrastructure systems including AHUs, FCUs, chillers, VRF, boilers, pumps, MCC panels, and wider central plant.
  • Adjusting and optimising BMS controls to maintain comfort conditions and energy efficiency.
  • Carrying out L8 water hygiene tasks in line with compliance and planned schedules.
  • Delivering both planned preventive maintenance and fast, effective response to engineering requests.
  • Supporting statutory inspections and maintaining accurate engineering records.
  • Performing first-line diagnostics, isolations, and safety-critical interventions.
  • Maintaining plant rooms and technical areas to high safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Assisting the Maintenance Manager and Room Technicians with in-room maintenance to protect the guest experience.
  • Responding swiftly and professionally to emergencies such as power outages, HVAC failures, or fire alarm activations.

What You’ll Bring

  • Recognised qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (e.g. City & Guilds or equivalent).
  • Strong background in building services operations within a complex, highly serviced environment.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and O&M manuals.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and confidence making decisions under pressure.
  • Clear and professional communication skills in written and spoken English.
  • Solid understanding of statutory compliance and Health and Safety obligations.
  • 5 years’ experience in luxury hotels, hospitality, or five-star environments.
  • Familiarity with premium guest-service expectations.
