As a Cloud & Managed IT Engineer you’ll work on cutting‑edge cloud technologies, contribute to process improvements, and enhance service delivery. You’ll support customer and internal environments, handle complex technical escalations, optimise platforms and advance automation. The role is 70% technical and 30% client‑facing, working by understanding clients’ businesses, identifying issues before they arise and proactively managing their environments. The position is hybrid, based in Birmingham, Bolton or Meppershall three days per week, and you will be on the weekend on‑call rota, 1 in 5 weekends.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert‑level technical escalation support and foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Drive efficiency through automation, streamlined service requests, and self‑service capabilities across Managed IT.
- Administer and support Azure, M365, Exchange, and Intune platforms.
- Contribute to proactive monitoring, automated remediation, and operational excellence in infrastructure, systems, networks and business services.
- Support service transition processes and ensure documentation, procedures and knowledge transfers complete for seamless hand‑overs.
- Champion service management processes including Change, Major Incident and Problem Management.
- Support and manage the virtualised environment hosted within our private CoLo.
- Adhere to documented quality procedures and best practices.
Essential Technical Skills
- Advanced Azure administration.
- Microsoft Entra ID and user management.
- Microsoft 365 and Exchange management.
- Experience with Microsoft Intune or other MDM tools.
- Networking principles and troubleshooting.
- Windows 11 OS support.
- Server infrastructure support.
- ITSM tools (ServiceNow, HaloPSA, etc.).
Desirable Technical Skills
- PowerShell scripting.
- SQL Server Management Studio and SQL Server Reporting Services.
- ITIL practices.
- Hyper‑V and COLO.
- Terraform (IaC deployment).
Core Certifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104).
- Microsoft Certified: Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (MS-900).
- Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate (MD-102).
