About The Role
Own complex networks. Lead delivery on site. Be the expert customers trust as our Senior Network and Security Engineer. We’re looking for a Senior Network & Security Engineer to take a leading technical role supporting a key customer site in Nuneaton. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role for an experienced engineer who enjoys ownership, problem-solving and delivering real outcomes. You’ll work across BAU support and project delivery, acting as a trusted technical presence on site and a go-to escalation point for complex network challenges.
This is a second-line and project-focused role, combining technical depth with strong customer engagement. You’ll be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving complex network issues, delivering network projects end-to-end, and ensuring the customer's environment remains secure, stable and well-documented. You’ll operate with confidence and autonomy, knowing when to take the lead and when to collaborate with senior colleagues and you’ll play a key role in guiding and mentoring a more junior engineer on site. This role is based primarily at a customer site in Nuneaton and requires someone who is comfortable being visible, accountable and trusted by stakeholders.
Key responsibilities as a Senior Network and Security Engineer:
- Act as a technical escalation point for complex network and security incidents
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues while managing priorities and SLAs
- Deliver network projects end-to-end, from design through to implementation, commissioning and UAT
- Configure, deploy and support enterprise network infrastructure, including:
- Juniper switching, routing and firewalls
- Aruba wireless controllers and access points
- Lead wireless deployment, optimisation and troubleshooting
- Own patching, upgrades and configuration changes across the estate
- Maintain clear, accurate network documentation and live ticket updates
- Build strong working relationships with customer stakeholders through clear, confident communication
- Mentor and guide a junior engineer, supporting their technical development
- Work independently on site while collaborating with wider Intercity delivery teams
Key Experience
This role is suited to an experienced network engineer who is confident working in a customer environment and comfortable owning complex technical delivery. You’ll bring:
- Strong, hands-on experience in enterprise networking, with at least 2+ years in a dedicated networking role
- Proven experience working with Juniper and Aruba technologies
- The ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues under pressure
- Experience delivering technical projects alongside BAU support
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A structured, methodical approach to troubleshooting and documentation
- Confidence working independently while contributing as part of a wider team
- A proactive mindset and a genuine interest in continuous learning
Qualifications
JNCIA, ACNT or a relevant degree (or equivalent practical experience)
