We’re looking for a Managed IT Field Engineer to deliver high-quality third line desktop and endpoint support across customer environments, both remotely and on-site.
The role
Reporting to the Head of Technical Support, you’ll provide advanced technical support across managed IT services, supporting incidents, requests, onboarding activities, projects and migrations. This is a hands‑on field‑based role for someone who enjoys autonomy, problem‑solving and working directly with customers. You’ll be trusted to work independently at customer sites while remaining closely aligned with our service desk and wider technical teams.
What you’ll be doing
- Providing third line desktop and endpoint support, remotely and on customer sites
- Diagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues
- Leading ITaaS onboarding activities from technical delivery through to completion
- Supporting projects, migrations and incident management activities
- Managing device provisioning, deployments and endpoint lifecycle activity
- Communicating clearly and professionally with customers and internal teams
- Ensuring tickets, documentation and processes meet Intercity standards
- Feeding back service and onboarding improvements to enhance customer experience
What you’ll bring
- Strong experience in a managed IT field engineer or third line desktop support role
- Solid knowledge of Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Entra ID
- Experience with device builds, deployments and endpoint lifecycle management
- Confident hardware troubleshooting skills (laptops, desktops, printers)
- A foundation-level understanding of networking and infrastructure environments
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-first mindset
- Ability to self-manage workload and work without close supervision
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
Desirable
- Microsoft certifications (MCSA, MCSE or equivalent)
- ITIL knowledge or experience working within ITIL-aligned environments
- Exposure to Windows Server services (WSUS, MDT, WDS)
This role involves UK-wide travel to customer sites and may require occasional out-of-hours work, paid at agreed overtime rates.
