As a Trainee Product Analyst, you will support your journey to becoming a key part of ii's Product Team and delivery function. You will learn through a blend of structured training, covering customers, product, data, market, and technology, alongside practical, hands‑on experience. You will contribute to the delivery of roadmap items across the business, supported by Product Analysts and Product Managers in your team. Working closely with your squad, stakeholders, and the wider Product Team, you’ll help deliver and maintain key customer journeys that align with the product roadmap.
Day to day, you’ll assist in managing the product backlog and ensuring the vision, objectives, key results, and KPIs are clearly understood and aligned. You’ll support gathering requirements from stakeholders by creating analysis documentation, epics, and user stories, and will collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary squad and subject‑matter experts to design and deliver solutions. You will work across multiple channels and systems depending on business needs, building strong knowledge of our business and technical ecosystems. You’ll take a data‑led approach to driving outcomes and continuous improvement. By the end of your apprenticeship, you will take responsibility for improving customer journeys and experiences across your products, helping to create the UK's leading investment platform. Acting as a key link between business and IT delivery, you’ll proactively tackle day‑to‑day issues and identify iterative improvements to key journeys.
Key responsibilities/what you’ll do:
- Support Product Analysts in managing the product backlog using your knowledge of change methodologies and frameworks.
- Work within product/project workstreams and act as the link between business and IT delivery.
- Use your awareness of the market, competitors and the industry to help deliver at a tactical level against the Product Roadmap you support.
- Support the Product Team with communications to key stakeholders, e.g., creation of communications for Operations in preparation for Operational Readiness.
- Understand your key stakeholders and communicate effectively with them when required.
- Collaborate with colleagues across various teams, e.g., UX Designers, to ensure designs are aligned and create seamless, usable, and accessible user journeys.
- Play an active role in all Product Ceremonies, engaging with the immediate and broader team.
- Use your knowledge of key objectives, KPIs, data types and available systems to inform decision making.
- Take leadership under the direction of Product or Senior Product Analysts via mentoring and demonstrate a keenness to improve knowledge and skills.
- Focus on the right task at the right time and develop an understanding of product prioritisation tools and techniques.
- Provide cover at a squad/project level for a Product Analyst.
- Step up and take responsibility of the squad direction, defining the problem and seeing it through to solution.
- Demonstrate a keenness to learn more about our products and platforms, providing product support to Product Analysts.
- Work towards developing your knowledge of key ii Infrastructure and Platforms.
About the apprenticeship:
As a Trainee Product Analyst, you will develop the technical knowledge and professional skills and behaviours to work within our exciting and fast‑paced Product team. You will gain valuable work experience and achieve a scholarship qualification through a structured apprenticeship programme to kick‑start your career. Through the Level 4 Digital Product Manager apprenticeship, you will learn and grow technical knowledge in the following areas:
- Customer driven product management
- Stakeholder management and effective communication
- User centric design
- Data analysis for product management
- Digital product planning
- Digital product development
- Managing digital products
- Leveraging AI for product management or product management for AI and data products
By the end of the apprenticeship, you will achieve the Level 4 Digital Product Manager apprenticeship. Typically, the apprenticeship will take around 14 months to complete.
Requirements:
- To be 18 years old as of 1st September 2026.
- Be a UK/EEA citizen or have lived in the UK/EEA continuously for the last 3 years.
- Be eligible to work in the UK and not in full‑time education.
- Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent) grades A* to C (new grades 9 to 4).
- Must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level in a similar subject.
