Purpose of the Role
Working within the ii Finance team this apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a highly regulated, fast-paced environment, while working towards a nationally recognised qualification.
As an apprentice, you will work closely with the Vendor Manager to support the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, help assess and manage third-party risks, and ensure our supply chain complies with internal policies, frameworks and external regulatory requirements (e.g. FCA, Data Protection and operational resilience guidelines).
Responsibilities
Procurement & Supplier Risk Management:
- Assist stakeholders with sourcing events (e.g. request for proposal [RFP], request for information [RFI]) across a range of categories, including IT services, Marketing and Operations.
- Supporting the development of consistent procurement processes and procedures.
- Help maintain ii’s Third-Party supplier database and work with stakeholders around the business to ensure it’s accuracy.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their Third-Party requirements and ensure value-for-money procurement decisions are made.
- Support the onboarding of new Third Parties, including due diligence and risk assessments.
- Monitor supplier performance and escalate any service issues or risks.
- Assist in gathering and analysing supplier risk data (e.g. financial stability, cybersecurity posture).
- Help ensure suppliers comply with relevant regulations and internal controls.
Administrative & Reporting Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities and risk assessments.
- Assist in preparing management reports/dashboards on key third-party performance and risk exposure.
- Help track contract renewals, expiry dates, and key contractual obligations.
- Collating relevant management information to report to accountable stakeholder and in preparation for internal/external audits.
- Assist with internal training and attestation of ii’s Supplier Risk Management Polices and Framework.
- Support stakeholders with general requests and contract change requirements.
ABOUT THE APPRENTICESHIP:
- Through the level 3 Procurement & Supply Assistant apprenticeship, you will learn and grow technical knowledge such as:
- Understanding of the fundamentals of procurement and contract lifecycle management.
- Techniques for assessing and managing third-party risks in a highly regulated financial services environment.
- Competency in the systems, tools and processes specific to the role.
- Regulatory compliance frameworks such as FCA requirements for third-party risk, Operational Resilience, and ESG considerations.
- Communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders.
By the end of the apprenticeship, you will achieve your Level 3 Procurement & Supply Chain Assistant apprenticeship plus the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) level 3 Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations. Typically, the apprenticeship will take around 18 months to complete.

- To be at least 18 years old as of 1st October 2025
- Be a UK/EEA citizen or have lived in the UK/EEA continuously for the last 3 years
- To be eligible to work in the UK and not in full-time education
- Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent) grades A* to C (new grades 9 to 4)
- You must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level in a similar subject
