Purpose of the role:
As a Senior User Experience Designer, you will play a critical role in creating exceptional digital experiences for our customers while driving the transformation of a traditional financial services business into a user-centric, design-led organization. This position is ideal for someone passionate about user-centered design, with the ability to lead projects, guide teams, and collaborate with stakeholders to align on shared goals.
In this role, you will leverage your skills across research, strategy, and design execution to deliver innovative, accessible, and scalable solutions. You will also ensure the creation, maintenance, and evolution of our Design System to drive consistency and efficiency in our product offerings.
UX Design Squad Leadership:
- Own the end-to-end user experience for squad projects, from ideation to final delivery, ensuring seamless, intuitive, and visually compelling designs.
Design System:
- Play a key role in the adoption, evolution, and governance of the organisation’s Design System to ensure consistency, scalability, and efficiency across all platforms and products.
Stakeholder Management:
- Act as the primary UX representative in stakeholder meetings, building strong relationships with internal and external partners, aligning on goals, and managing expectations to ensure design solutions meet business and user needs.
Communication and Presentation:
- Clearly articulate design concepts, strategies, and justifications through compelling visual presentations, storytelling, and persuasive communication tailored to diverse audiences, including executives, developers, and non-design stakeholders.
Team Mentorship and Leadership:
- Mentor UX designers, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and growth-oriented culture within the design team. Provide constructive feedback, guidance, and support to ensure high-quality deliverables.
User-Centered Research:
- Collaborate with UX researchers to work on qualitative and quantitative research, usability testing, and stakeholder workshops, translating insights into actionable design solutions.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Work closely and early with Product Managers, Product Owners, Developers, Analysts, and Testers to ensure alignment and cohesion between design, business objectives, and technical implementation.
Accessibility and Usability Advocacy:
- Champion accessibility (e.g., WCAG compliance) and inclusive design principles, ensuring products are usable by all users, regardless of ability.
Problem-Solving:
- Analyse complex user and business challenges, designing elegant solutions that meet user needs and align with organizational objectives.
Responsive Design Expertise:
- Deliver designs optimised for multiple platforms, including responsive web, mobile applications, and emerging digital interfaces.
Must Have:
- Proven Experience: Extensive experience as a Senior UX Designer, or readiness to step into a senior role, backed by a strong portfolio demonstrating your end-to-end design process, thought leadership, and outcomes.
- Design System Expertise: Hands-on experience of implementing, managing, and scaling design systems, ensuring consistency across products.
- Stakeholder Management Skills: Proven ability to engage with and influence stakeholders at all levels, building trust, managing expectations, and aligning diverse perspectives.
- Advanced Communication and Presentation Skills: Exceptional verbal, visual, and written communication skills to articulate design concepts, processes, and solutions clearly and persuasively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams in an Agile or Lean UX environment, balancing priorities and fostering a culture of alignment and collaboration.
- Research and Testing Skills: Proficient in conducting user research, usability testing, and synthesizing data to inform design decisions.
- Design Proficiency: Expertise in tools like Figma for creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs, with a strong understanding of user-centered design principles, usability, and accessibility standards.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: Ability to analyze complex challenges and deliver elegant, user-centered solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
