About the Role
We are seeking a highly analytical and commercially minded Product Specialist to join our Product Management team. This role will focus primarily on tax‑efficient account types, with particular emphasis on Individual Savings Accounts (ISA) and Self‑Invested Personal Pensions (SIPP). Reporting directly to the COO, you will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence across tax‑efficient product controls, driving product enhancements to improve client experience, and identifying opportunities to foster business growth through product innovation. The role combines hands‑on operational responsibilities—including control reviews, issue remediation, and management information oversight—with strategic product development activities aimed at maintaining competitive positioning in the UK retail investment market. This is an exceptional opportunity for a commercially aware professional with demonstrable ISA experience to take ownership of a critical product line within a high‑growth, global financial services organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct first‑line of defence monitoring of product controls and operational processes for ISA, SIPP, and European tax‑efficient accounts (e.g., PEA, ISK, TBSZ).
- Perform and oversee regular control reviews to prevent, detect, and remediate issues including ineligible investments, over‑contributions, and cash/in‑specie transfer errors.
- Develop and maintain control frameworks to ensure ongoing compliance with HMRC ISA regulations, FCA requirements, and relevant European tax authority rules.
- Escalate control breaches and coordinate remediation activities with Operations, Compliance, and Technology teams.
- Monitor key performance indicators and management information related to tax‑efficient account operations.
- Identify trends, anomalies, and areas requiring attention, producing regular reports for senior management.
- Act as the primary point of contact for complex operational issues relating to UK tax‑efficient accounts, coordinating resolution across Client Services, Operations, Tax, Legal and Compliance functions.
- Drive continuous improvement of the client experience by identifying friction points across the client journey, including account opening, funding, transfers, trading, and withdrawals.
- Project‑manage product enhancement initiatives from conception through implementation and post‑launch review.
- Develop project plans including scope, timelines, resource requirements, dependencies and risk mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams and manage stakeholder expectations across Technology, Operations, Compliance, Legal and Commercial functions to deliver product improvements on time and within budget.
- Develop and maintain product documentation including user guides, FAQs, training materials and internal process documentation to support Client Services teams and enhance client self‑service capabilities.
- Conduct post‑implementation reviews to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement in product delivery processes.
Business Growth & Strategic Development
- Leverage product knowledge and market expertise to identify opportunities for business growth, including product feature enhancements, new client segment targeting and competitive positioning improvements.
- Analyse client behaviour and product usage data to identify opportunities for growth, cross‑sell and product optimisation.
- Create and maintain management information dashboards to track client activity, product performance and key metrics (account growth, AUM, revenue, engagement, retention).
- Develop business cases for new products and features, including market sizing, revenue projections and implementation requirements.
- Contribute to strategic planning and roadmap development for IBKR UK product offerings.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- University degree in finance, economics, business or related field.
- Demonstrable experience working with UK Individual Savings Accounts (ISA), including strong understanding of ISA regulations, eligible investments, contribution limits, transfer rules, and HMRC reporting requirements.
- 2–5 years’ experience in a product management, operations or control function within financial services (e.g., brokerage, wealth management, investment platform or retail banking).
- Strong analytical capabilities with ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
- Proven ability to manage projects and coordinate cross‑functional teams to deliver results.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills across technical, commercial and compliance functions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to produce clear documentation and present to senior management.
Highly Desirable
- Knowledge and experience of mutual funds operations, including understanding of fund structures (UCITS, OEICs, unit trusts), order processing, settlement cycles, transfer agency functions, trailer fees, and distribution arrangements.
- Familiarity with fund eligibility requirements for tax‑advantaged accounts and experience navigating fund data providers would be particularly valuable.
- Experience with Self‑Invested Personal Pensions (SIPP), including understanding of pension regulations, HMRC requirements, eligible investments and transfer processes.
- At minimum, candidates should demonstrate a good general understanding of SIPP products and regulatory framework.
- Experience with European tax‑advantaged accounts (e.g., French PEA, Swedish ISK, Hungarian TBSZ) or willingness to develop expertise in these products.
- Working knowledge of FCA regulations, particularly relating to retail investment products, client money/assets and product governance (PROD).
- Experience with control frameworks, first‑line‑of‑defence activities or operational risk management.
- Familiarity with brokerage operations including trading, settlement, corporate actions and custody.
